Washington, D.C. – Speaker Pelosi issued this statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit today issued an order granting the House of Representative’s motion to intervene as a party in the Texas v. U.S. lawsuit, in which a ruling was handed down striking down the entire Affordable Care Act, in addition to the provisions protecting Americans with pre-existing conditions:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee has recommended to the Caucus that the following Members serve on the Committees on Budget, Ethics, Natural Resources and Rules for the 116th Congress.

“Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception.

“The Census is a pillar of our democracy, ensuring that all are equally counted and represented. “As the district court found, the Trump Administration’s efforts to add a citizenship question to the Census would obstruct Congress’s constitutional responsibility to carry out an 'actual Enumeration' of the 'whole number of persons in each State’ and maintain oversight of this cornerstone of our democracy, according to the Commerce Department's own administrative record and calculations. It found further that the Trump Administration’s proposed citizenship question violated procedural and substantive safeguards established by law.
