Leader Pelosi.  Thank you very much Don [Falk] for your great leadership. Today is a very special day for us personally and officially because of what it means to the residents here. And what it means to the residents here is that they have been treated with dignity and respect having a say in how this place, this wonderful Sala Burton Manor has been developed.

“The Trump Administration’s disdain for the clean air our children breathe and the clean water they drink knows no bounds.  This rule is a brazen special interest handout that poisons families’ health today, and threatens their security and well-being for decades to come by accelerating the climate crisis.

"Today, our country lost a leader of exceptional courage, compassion and character.  Congressman Leonard Boswell dedicated a lifetime to serving our country, both as a soldier and a statesman.  His passing is a great loss to the people of Iowa and to the nation, and is a source of heartbreak for all who were blessed to call him friend. 

Thank you! Thank you very much Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Clearly here today, it is obvious that you command the respect of your community and when you put out the word, it happens. And here, as you said, we have the benefit of the intellectual resources of everything that has an effect on a child from maternity to law enforcement, protection against – moms, the Violence Against Women Act. Everything in between in terms of mental health and the rest. So it’s a very valuable, valuable presentation and I thank you for it because I came here to listen. To hear the community say what would really make the biggest difference.

Normally, a party that gives away $2 trillion without worrying about where the money will come from can buy itself at least a few votes. But Donald Trump’s tax cut remains remarkably unpopular, and Republicans barely mention it on the campaign trail — in fact, Democrats are running against the tax cut more than Republicans are running on it.
