Leader Pelosi. Thank you, Madam Speaker. I thank the gentleman [Rep. John Yarmuth] for his great leadership as a Ranking Member on the Budget Committee in the House and I thank all the Members on the Budget Committee for their great work to make this budget – the Yarmuth budget – a statement of our values. That's exactly what a federal budget should be; a federal budget should be a statement of our national values, what is important to us as a country.

This evening, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined Chris Cuomo for CNN's LivePelosi Town Hall in the wake of the horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas to discuss the immediate need for commonsense gun reform legislation. She echoed House Democrats' calls to pass the bipartisan King-Thompson legislation to strengthen life-saving background checks and to form a bipartisan Select Committee on Gun Violence.
Leader Pelosi also discussed Republicans' billionaires-first budget plan which would pave the way for massive tax cuts for the wealthy few on the backs of working Americans, as well as Democrats' commitment to passing the DREAM Act now.

President Trump and Republicans would have you believe that the ‘biggest winners will be the everyday American workers’ in their tax ‘reform’ plan, even though they refuse to guarantee that their plan won’t raise taxes on hard-working families. In reality, the Ryan-McConnell tax framework cuts taxes for the wealthiest, raises taxes on middle class families and adds trillions of dollars to the deficit.
