Our men and women in uniform fight abroad so we can know safety and security at home. Yet when they return from war and re-enter civilian life, too many soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines find it difficult to translate skills learned during active-duty service to potential employers, making it harder for them to secure a job, a paycheck, and a future worthy of their sacrifice.

The Hiring Heroes Act tackles this challenge head-on – helping our men and women in uniform obtain good jobs when they come home.

Today, House Republicans brought another bill (HR 1216) to the House floor that does not address jobs and wastes time in a futile attempt to repeal part of the Affordable Care Act. We all know which Paul Ryan will show up on TV this weekend—the Paul Ryan advocating his plan to end Medicare in order to reward Big Oil with tax breaks. This week he took so many positions on the GOP plan to end Medicare as we know it, he might as well be playing Twister.

Will it be a Gingrich from this week?

Republicans, in a desperate attempt to score cheap political points, are willing to risk the health coverage for hard-working Americans. Attacking the temporary waiver process on annual limits in the Affordable Care Act that would ensure that workers don't lose their current health coverage until 2014 when they will have an opportunity to shop on the health exchanges is pathetic, but not surprising, coming from the same Republican crowd that supports ending Medicare as we know it.

In a pathetic attempt to deflect outrage about their efforts to abolish Medicare, Republicans are grasping at straws. Leader Pelosi strongly opposes benefit cuts and the Republican plan--as she stated during the House floor debate of the Republican budget:
