Thompson to Hold Hearing on DHS Spy Satellite ProgramAugust 28, 2007 (WASHINGTON) -- On Thursday, September 9th, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will hold a full Committee open hearing on the privacy and civil liberties implications of the National Applications Office, the new office in the Department of Homeland Security charged with civil/domestic intelligence gathering.

Chairman Miller Requests Information from Labor Department & Murray Energy on Crandall Canyon MineWASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA), chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, today sent requests for documents, communications, and other information from the U.S. Department of Labor and Murray Energy Corporation related to the operation and stewardship of the Crandall Canyon Mine in Utah.
The President must now restore credibility to the office of the Attorney General. Given the serious loss of public trust and the disarray at the Department of Justice, the American people must have absolute confidence in the integrity of the next Attorney General as the nation's chief law enforcement officer and as defender of our constitution independent of political influence.
