In an attempt to justify his stay-the-course strategy in Iraq, President Bush is offering false lessons from history. The American people have already judged the President's war in Iraq as the wrong war at the wrong time, and are ready for our troops to come home.

Whatever improvements in security that may have resulted from the efforts of our troops since the surge began, Iraqi leaders have not done the hard political work on which the future of their country depends.

While Republicans always talk about the importance of state flexibility and letting states make decisions, their actions are quite the opposite. Once again, President Bush is trying to throw America's children off our nation's health insurance rolls.

SCHIP has provided millions of children with quality health insurance, and has earned broad bipartisan support. Yet now the Bush Administration is imposing restrictions that will cause more children to be uninsured.

Today Chairman Henry Waxman of the Oversight Committee wrote to federal agencies requesting documents about their involvement in White House "asset deployment" meetings held to discuss the use of federal resources to promote the reelection of President Bush and Republicans in Congress.
