As Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy attempts to block the creation of a bipartisan commission to examine January 6th, the Republican Leader is also refusing to set a meeting with a DC police officer hoping to share his story from the day of the insurrection.
Officer Mike Fanone was beaten with a flag pole, concussed, and suffered a heart attack and horrendous wounds while protecting the Capitol from insurrectionists on January 6th. But despite claiming that he's open to meeting with Officer Mike Fanone, McCarthy's office has refused to set a date for a meeting – all while supporting the lies members of his conference and former President Trump continue to tell about the insurrection.
As multiple Members of the House Republican Conference claim that the January 6th attack on the Capitol was a "normal tourist visit," "not an insurrection" and carried out by "peaceful patriots," Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is refusing to meet with DC Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone who suffered a heart attack, concussion and traumatic brain injury while fighting to protect the Capitol from insurrectionists.
Kevin McCarthy has time and again proven what kind of "Leader" he is: a "leader" unwilling to stand up to bigotry and other inexcusable behavior in his conference, a "leader" without a backbone or belief in truth, and a "leader" who is willing to throw our democracy under the bus if it means appeasing Trump and the far right elements of his base. Punishing Members who Tell the Truth: McCarthy is actively seeking to oust Liz Cheney from leadership for telling the truth about the 2020 election and the violence on January 6th.
"I've had it with her," blurted Kevin McCarthy into a live mic following a Fox & Friends interview on Tuesday, as reported by Axios. We'd be frustrated with Cheney, too, if we based our political strategy on lying to the American people.
We're not the only ones who noticed that Minority Leader McCarthy touted American Rescue Plan relief to his constituents after slamming it as socialist and claiming it would turn us into Venezuela.
