Press Releases
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Leader Chuck Schumer issued this joint statement after Senator McConnell's declaration on the Senate Floor that the Mueller Report is "case closed":
"Senator McConnell's declaration of ‘case closed' is a stunning act of political cynicism and a brazen violation of the oath we all take. The Special Counsel report laid out eleven instances of the President's obstruction, and left a raft of unanswered questions about coordination between the President's campaign and Russia. These are not trivial or political questions – they go to the wellspring of our democracy. When a President is allowed to violate the law with impunity, and when a foreign power is allowed to interfere in our elections, it gnaws at the roots of the great oak that is our democracy, and could very well topple it.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Pelosi issued this statement one year after the President issued his family separation policy:
"The President's barbaric and inhumane policy of ripping children from their parents' arms was an atrocity that violated our American values and left a dark stain on our nation's history.
"One year later, countless families remain torn apart and countless children left alone and subjected to needless trauma and heartbreak because of the Administration's outrageous and unacceptable failure to reunify families. This is not simply a failed immigration policy; it is the cruel consequence of an Administration utterly lacking in humanity. Yet, the Administration continues to stonewall and refuse to provide Congress the answers we need to hold them accountable and prevent this horror from ever again happening.
San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in recognition of the Holy month of Ramadan:
"The Holy month of Ramadan is a time of spirituality, reflection and joy for millions of Muslims in America and around the world. During this sacred month, Muslim families everywhere gather together to reaffirm their faith and celebrate their proud traditions and rich heritage.
"In America, Ramadan offers us all the opportunity to express our enduring gratitude for the incredible contributions that generations of Muslims have brought to our communities. Whether in the arts, academics, science, public service or the armed services, countless Muslim American men and women have strengthened our democracy, enriched our society and defended our nation, honoring our most cherished values of religious freedom and equal opportunity for all.
San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement in honor of Cinco de Mayo:
"Cinco de Mayo is a day of celebration, commemorating the remarkable triumph of a poorly-armed Mexican militia against the better-equipped Imperial French army at the Battle of Puebla. Through their valor and perseverance, the courageous militia stood strong in the face of incredible odds to defend their rights, their heritage and their country. Today, we honor their heroism, we celebrate the proud history of our friends and neighbors in Mexico, and we give thanks for the innumerable contributions that Mexican Americans and the entire Latino community have made to enrich our communities.
San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement marking two years since House Republicans voted for their monstrous Trumpcare bill, which would have gutted protections for people with pre-existing conditions and taken away the affordable, quality health care of millions:
"Two years ago, House Republicans viciously voted to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions and take away the affordable, quality health care of millions – and then threw themselves a party in the Rose Garden to celebrate.

R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, which takes a bold first step to protect our planet by keeping us in the Paris Climate Agreement and laying the foundation for further innovative action. Below is a full transcript of the address:
"Hello, I'm Representative Kathy Castor from Florida, and I chair the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Department of Labor issued its April jobs report:
"The April jobs report numbers show some promising news, yet these gains hide the true weight of the economic uncertainty felt by millions of hard-working Americans. Unfortunately, the evidence shows that most of the economic gains continue to benefit those already well-off. We must do more to ensure that the economy is benefiting every family in every community, and that all Americans have the opportunity to move ahead in our economy.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the Trump Administration's two new rules: a finalized rule allowing health care workers, pharmacies, insurance plans, and hospitals to refuse to provide care based on a personal belief, opening the door to widespread discrimination in health care, and a second expected rule denying transgender Americans their rightful civil rights protections under the ACA.
"These bigoted rules are immoral, deeply discriminatory and downright deadly, greenlighting open discrimination in health care against LGTBQ Americans and directly threatening the well-being of millions. Make no mistake: this is an open license to discriminate against Americans who already face serious, systemic discrimination.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the Trump Administration's new rule to block home health care workers from directing their own wages to support their union:
"This rule is a brazen assault on workers' freedom to negotiate better wages, working conditions and futures, targeting the livelihoods of the selfless men and women who provide care to those in great need, including seniors and veterans. Workers now face a grim future of lower wages, weakened workplace rights and choked off access to benefits – as the health of the millions who rely on them for compassionate care is thrown into jeopardy.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi held her weekly press conference today in the Capitol Visitor Center. Below are the Speaker's remarks:
Speaker Pelosi. Good morning, everyone.
Well, yesterday was quite a day. I really lost sleep last night after watching over and over again the testimony of the Attorney General of the United States. How sad it is – how sad it is for us to see the top law enforcement officer in our country misrepresenting, withholding the truth from the Congress of the United States.
