Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day:
"On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we mark one of the darkest chapters in human history. Less than a century ago, the world witnessed the systematic extermination of six million Jews and millions more who were killed simply because of who they were and what they believed. The memory of this unfathomable horror continues to stand as a lasting reminder to heed the lessons of the past and honor our responsibility to never forget or stand idly by while others suffer.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Department of Justice filed its brief in Texas v. United States, asking the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to strike down the entirety of the Affordable Care Act. The House has voted on three occasions to oppose the suit, while House Republicans have voted overwhelmingly in support of the Trump Administration's assault on health care.
"Two years ago this weekend, House Republicans gathered in the Rose Garden to congratulate themselves for voting to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions and take away millions of families' health care. Today, the Trump Administration is continuing Republicans' monstrous campaign to destroy pre-existing condition protections and Americans' access to affordable health care.

Washington, D.C. — Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the House filed a motion to intervene in a court case to take over from the Department of Justice the defense of a long-standing federal criminal statute making female genital mutilation, of which more than 500,000 women and girls are at risk of or have been subject to in the United States, a crime:
"Female genital mutilation is an extreme form of gender-based violence that poses a grave public health risk. That 200 million women and girls worldwide have been subjected to this horrific act is a challenge to the conscience of the world.

"Today, we had a constructive meeting with President Trump agreeing on a big and bold initiative to build the infrastructure of America.
"The purpose of the meeting was to find out the amount of investment the President was willing to agree to. We were pleased he suggested $2 trillion. We agreed to meet again in three weeks, at which time we will hear the President's ideas for how he would pay for such a package.
