Today, Attorney General Barr presented a disrespectfully late and selectively redacted version of Special Counsel Mueller's report.
This report includes several alarming findings, including that "the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion." It also explicitly states that the President's campaign took actions with an expectation that "it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts."
In his summary letter and press conference, Attorney General Barr presented a conclusion that the President did not obstruct justice. The Mueller report appears to directly undercut that claim.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on Tax Day:
"On this Tax Day, big banks, big pharma and big corporations are celebrating their record windfall and soaring profits from the GOP Tax Scam for the rich. Yet, for millions of hard-working families, Tax Day is not living up to the Republicans' promises.
"After exploding the deficit by $2 trillion dollars, Republicans continue to push a disastrous special interest agenda that undermines the health and economic security of American families. Instead of working to strengthen communities and lift up the middle class, Republicans have doubled down on their monstrous health care lawsuit to strike down pre-existing condition protections and take away Americans' health care.
London — Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a high-level congressional delegation concluded two days of meetings in London with top U.K. government officials. Speaker Pelosi released this statement:
"Our delegation, led by Chairman Richie Neal, was warmly welcomed in London for high-level meetings with U.K. leaders and representatives. In all our meetings, we recognized the importance of the U.S.-U.K. special relationship. And as we observe the 21st anniversary, we emphasized the bipartisan U.S. commitment to protecting the Good Friday Accords.
This evening, CBS' 60 Minutes aired an in-depth profile of Speaker Pelosi. The Speaker discussed her historic Speakership and Democrats' accomplishments For The People in the first 100 days of the 116th Congress, by taking steps to lower health care costs, increase workers' paychecks by rebuilding America and clean up corruption in Washington. Speaker Pelosi also discussed the necessity of transparency in a full, public release of the Mueller report to the American people and Congress.
