Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointed the following Members to serve on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for the 116th Congress.

In the letter, the Speaker wrote “The U.S. Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for National Special Security Events by Public Law 106-544, December 19, 2000.  However, both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security have not been funded for 26 days now – with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee will recommend to the Caucus that the following Members serve on the Judiciary Committee for the 116th Congress.

“This ruling honors the vision of our Founders and the letter of the Constitution, and represents a major victory for the rule of law and the American people.   

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee has recommended to the Caucus that the following Members serve on the Armed Services Committee, Education and Labor Committee, and Ways and Means Committee for the 116th Congress.

“Instead of wasting farmers’ time with empty words, the President should restore certainty to their lives by signing the bipartisan legislation that House Democrats just passed to re-open the Department of Agriculture.

Speaker Pelosi.  Good afternoon, everyone.  I'm very honored to be here to sign this legislation which is about fairness to our federal workers, our public employees.  It should not be necessary.  We shouldn't have a shutdown but since we do, we want to ensure that our public employees, some of them are working without pay, some of them are shut out from working, but all of them will be assured that they'll be paid not just for this shutdown but for all shutdowns, to remove all doubt.
