Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent the following letter today to President Trump inviting him to deliver a State of the Union address to a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

“Today, it is my privilege to name Congressman Adam Schiff as the Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.  His distinguished service on this committee, most recently as Ranking Member for the last four years, will be an essential and urgently needed asset as the Congress honors our oath to secure and defend the Constitution and protect the American people.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Speaker Pelosi announced a standalone resolution affirming the House Counsel’s authorization to intervene in the GOP’s Texas v. United States lawsuit to defend the Affordable Care Act and protections for pre-existing conditions. The resolution, slated for floor debate and a House vote on January 9, is being introduced today by Freshman Class co-President Colin Allred of Texas.
