Leader Pelosi.   This is a beautiful leadership team gathered on the 50th anniversary of Shirley Chisholm being sworn in as the first African American woman in the Congress.  There is a ceremony in Brooklyn today to honor that.  So appropriate that we have this beautiful, diverse leadership team.  How proud I think she would be to see the diversity.  There is also, this weekend is the hundredth anniversary of, the hundredth birthday of Nelson Mandela, beautiful contribution to the world.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Trump Administration announced new guidance massively expanding 1332 waivers to allow states to undermine or ignore the law of the Affordable Care Act: 

“VA has a solemn duty to ensure veterans receive the full benefits that they have earned and deserve.  VA’s complete failure to uphold this responsibility or provide adequate solutions showcases the Trump Administration’s string of broken promises to students, veterans and their loved ones. 

“With the passing of Congressman Ed Pastor, our nation has lost a true trailblazer and a tireless public servant. Over the course of his four decades in public office, including 12 terms in the House of Representatives, Congressman Pastor broke barriers and delivered meaningful progress for his constituents, for the Latino community and for all Americans.
