Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced the approval of a Full Funding Grant Agreement for Caltrain electrification:
"Today we celebrate as the Transportation Department has answered California Democrats' calls to release federal funds for the long-planned Caltrain electrification, allowing this crucial project to proceed with construction. Our victory would not have been possible without the $100 million secured in the recent omnibus appropriations bill, and the strong leadership of Congresswomen Eshoo, Speier and Lofgren, our Senators, and the entire California Democratic delegation in overcoming this roadblock.
