This week in Europe, President Biden has been making a powerful case that, in his phrase, "America is back." But for all Biden's confidence abroad, he knows as well as anyone that there's still something very badly broken at home.
Our political divisions have complex manifestations, but the core problem actually is simple: The rewards of our economy are distributed in a grossly unfair way, and the pandemic has made it worse. Anger about this unfairness is shared by Whites and Blacks, conservatives and progressives, Trump voters and Biden voters. Indeed, it may be one of the few things we all agree on.

More than one month after publicly promising to meet with Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone to discuss the horrors he experienced on January 6th, Minority Leader McCarthy's office has not even reached out to Officer Fanone to set up a meeting.
During the January 6th Capitol insurrection, Officer Fanone was beaten with a flag pole, concussed and suffered a heart attack while protecting McCarthy and other lawmakers from violent Trump supporters.
McCarthy promised to meet with Officer Fanone during National Police Week while standing in front of a national monument to fallen police officers.

As we celebrate these joyous anniversaries, we are reminded of the urgency we face in fully protecting these Americans, so they can continue to strengthen our nation with their talents, hard work and patriotism.
San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement to mark five years since the attack at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, which occurred on June 12, 2016:
"As we mark five years since the shooting at Pulse Nightclub, Americans join Orlando and the LGBTQ community to honor the 49 beautiful souls senselessly murdered while simply enjoying a night of dancing and celebration. Today, our hearts break again thinking of the brave survivors and families of the victims, whose grief I saw firsthand while visiting Pulse five years ago to mourn this appalling act. Tragically, in the years since, we have continued to see gun violence and hate crimes plaguing communities across our nation and leaving behind nearly unimaginable pain.
