The Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties is currently holding a hearing, "From the Department of Justice to Guantanamo Bay: Administration Lawyers and Administration Interrogation Rules, Part II." Witnesses will include Douglas Feith, Daniel Levin, David B. Rivkin, Jr., and Lawrence Wilkerson.

The President's proposal today is another page from the Administration's energy policy that was literally written by the oil industry: give away more public resources to the very same oil companies that are raking in record profits and sitting on 68 million acres of federal lands they've already leased.

The President's speech at a time of record gas prices had no ideas for more efficient transportation or renewable American energy--only more addiction to fossil fuels and dependence on an oil industry earning record profits:

In a letter to the Defense Department Inspector General today, Chairman Henry Waxman of the Oversight Committee asked the IG to examine potentially thousands of criminal cases involving fraudulent contracts in Iraq, which could involve hundreds of millions of federal dollars.
