The Impact of Five-Year War on Our Troops

Today, the Army's Mental Health Advisory Team released a new assessment of the mental and physical health of our brave soldiers deployed to Iraq. While unit morale has gone up since 2006 -- only 11.2 percent of those surveyed would rate their unit morale as high or very high. Overall, the report underscores the grave toll the President's five-year war is having on our troops.

The House has just passed H.R. 1424, the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act by a vote of 268-148. This bipartisan legislation will end discrimination against patients seeking treatment for mental illnesses by prohibiting insurers and group health plans from imposing treatment or financial limitations when they offer mental health benefits that are more restrictive from those applied to medical and surgical services.

WASHINGTON (March 5, 2008) -- Today President Bush delivered a speech to the Washington International Renewable Energy Conference where he again failed to commit the United States to domestic or international cuts in global warming emissions, and continued the same delaying tactics that will result in continued large emissions on heat-trapping pollution. He also pushed a message of technological development while he continues to actively oppose incentives for renewable energy that would increase the development and use of renewable energy here in America.
