Last week, Speaker Pelosi sent the College Cost Reduction and Access Act to the President for his signature. The legislation will help millions of students and families pay for college at no new cost to taxpayers, boosting college aid by roughly $20 billion over the next five years. This morning, the President signed the landmark college student financial aid bill into law and now the College Cost Reduction and Access Act is looking for somebody to love:

On February 7, 2007, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing to on performance and accountability of private military contractors in Iraq. The hearing included the examination of one prominent case study: a pivotal event of the Iraq War in which four Blackwater USA security contractors were ambushed and killed in Fallujah on March 31, 2004, while escorting a convoy. The Committee has since pursued a thorough investigation, and has just released its findings based on eye-witness accounts, unclassified investigative reports, and other evidence -- much of it obtained and discovered despite fierce resistance from Blackwater. Representatives of the world's largest greenhouse gas emitting nations are gathered in Washington this week to discuss their roles in combating global warming. In advance of this conference, Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid called on the President to support mandatory national and international limits on the pollution that causes global warming stating in a letter, "your Administration has been pursuing an alternative approach based on purely aspirational targets and non-binding pledges of national action, as was evident at the recent summit of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries.
