Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee has recommended to the Caucus that the following Members serve on the Committees on Budget, Small Business, Natural Resources, and Science, Space and Technology for the 116th Congress.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi attended the U.S. Conference of Mayors winter meeting opening plenary.  Below are the Speaker’s remarks:

“Since 1846, the Smithsonian Institution has played a critical role in our nation’s social and cultural life, preserving our unique and beautiful history, and inspiring generations of Americans to understand and explore our heritage,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  “The Smithsonian Board of Regents is essential to guiding the future of this special institution and ensuring it remains a source of creativity, innovation and scientific discovery for Americans and visitors from around the world.”

In the letter, the Speaker wrote “I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened.”

“On Thursday, the Senate will have the opportunity to put a bipartisan bill on the President’s desk to re-open government and end this senseless shutdown.
