Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on President Trump’s abrupt announcement that Robert Wilkie will be nominated for Secretary of Veterans Affairs:

Leader Pelosi.  As we gather here this morning, I thank you all for coming to our Moms Summit.  I wanted to begin with a poem prayer that was written by my mother for her mother.  It’s on the back of your program.  But any time I read it or someone loses a mom, I send it to them because it captures something so special in our lives.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Marcia Fudge of Ohio delivered the Weekly Democratic Address.  In this week’s address, Fudge condemns Republicans’ cruel and destructive Farm Bill that leaves America’s rural communities behind and steals food from the hungry by reducing $23 billion in SNAP benefits.  Video and audio of the Weekly Democratic Address can be downloaded here.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today following news reports that the Administration will soon announce President Trump’s Domestic Gag Rule on Title X, which would have the effect of denying access to health care and family planning services to many vulnerable families:

“This morning, our nation was heartbroken by the horrific murder of innocent children and a teacher at Santa Fe High School. All Americans grieve for those whose lives were stolen by this tragedy, and our prayers are with the families and loved ones of who have been wounded. We are all grateful to the first responders, whose courage and heroism prevented more lives from being lost.
