Leader Pelosi.  Good morning, everyone.

Here we are.  The saga continues.  The Trump Administration's reaction to the explosive revelations about secret communications between Russian intelligence agents and senior Trump officials has been very revealing.  It reveals how much Russia's grip on the Trump Administration is undermining our democracy and compromising our national security.

And it also reveals that President Trump's top priority in all of this is shutting down leaks.  He's saying he wants to hide the truth from the American people, so he's focusing on the leaks rather than addressing the challenge to our democracy and our security.  It's a deflection.  You know, the Deflector-in-Chief strikes again.

Something caught our eye in a just-released photo from the exclusive annual Grammys-eve party thrown by Sony Music Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis. Among the A-plus-level musical stars (Neil Diamond, Jennifer Hudson, Bell Biv DeVoe and Chance the Rapper), right next to Mary J. Blige, is House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.).

Although Pelosi was the only non-musician in the photo, she sorta looked the part — Pelosi and Blige are striking mirrored hand-on-hip poses.

Pelosi, it turns out, is a regular guest at the Beverly Hilton hotel shindig, which is known in the music biz as the most-coveted invite of all the Grammy parties. At this year's event, the California Democrat introduced Davis, praising his work on HIV/AIDS and promoting the arts. "The arts have immense power to shift the national conversation," Pelosi said, according to a transcript of her remarks.

Leader Pelosi. Good morning everyone! As President Trump inflicts his failed so-called vision on our country, he and the Republican Congress have not lifted a finger to create more of the good-paying jobs America needs. The sudden ICE raids, the dangerous and unconstitutional Muslim and Refugee Ban, the weakness before Russia, the list goes on.

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement after Andrew Puzder's withdrawal from consideration as Secretary of the Department of Labor nominee:

"Andrew Puzder's withdrawal is the latest example of President Trump's disastrous judgement, and a powerful sign of Americans' growing mobilization against the Republican agenda.

"With his storied anti-worker record, degrading treatment of women, attempts to strip health coverage, and efforts to block bigger paychecks for hard-working families, Puzder should have never been considered to lead the Labor Department in the first place.

"Nominating Puzder exposed the true face of the Trump Administration's agenda to undermine workers' rights and wages.  We must be just as engaged against the next nominee chosen to advance the same destructive anti-worker agenda."

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced that she has recommended to the Democratic Caucus that Congressman Steve Cohen of Tennessee be appointed to serve on the House Ethics Committee.  The Democratic Caucus approved the appointment today.

"The Ethics Committee is critical to maintaining the dignity of the People's House," Leader Pelosi said.  "With his leadership, integrity, and courage, Congressman Steve Cohen will be a strong addition to the Ethics Committee.  As a Member of the Judiciary Committee with many years of dedicated service representing Tennessee, Congressman Cohen knows the high standards hard-working Americans have for their elected officials.  Congressman Cohen will be a strong advocate for ensuring every Member of Congress honors this sacred trust."

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released this statement following the resignation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn:

"The truth and consequences of the Russia connection: the American people deserve to know the full extent of Russia's financial, personal and political grip on President Trump and what that means for our national security.

"Flynn's resignation is a reflection of the poor judgment of President Trump and demands answers to the grave questions over the President's involvement.  By what authority did Flynn act and to whom did he report?

"The FBI must accelerate its investigation of the Russian connection with the Trump Administration, and Congress must call for a bipartisan, independent, outside commission to fully investigate Russia's influence on the Administration and the election."

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on raids conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents appearing to target non-violent undocumented individuals breaking apart families:

"The news of ICE raids targeting hard-working immigrant families is deeply upsetting.  Tearing apart families and dragging parents out of their homes does not make America great.

"The Trump Administration owes the American people the facts.  If ICE has been ordered to spend its time deporting law-abiding mothers and fathers instead of violent criminals, the public has a right to know.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement calling for National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to be fired:

"Michael Flynn's conduct was alarming enough before his secret communications with the Russians were exposed.  Now, we have a National Security Advisor who cannot be trusted not to put Putin before America.

"The conduct of the Trump White House speaks for itself.  The reports of the Trump-Russia dossier gain credence with each passing day.  As long as Republicans refuse to compel the release of President Trump's tax returns, they are complicit in covering up Russia's financial, personal and political hold on the Administration.
