Dear Democratic Colleague,

On January 20th, our nation witnessed the peaceful transfer of power with the inauguration of a new president.  The next morning, America awakened to a peaceful show of power from millions of women and men across the country, in the Women's March.

Many marched to protect affordable health care in America.  And many people are asking what they can do next to defend it.

In order to maximize the impact of our next actions, we are asking Members to have events on the same day, Saturday, February 18th, to protect the Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid.  On Presidents' Day weekend, we will honor our Founders' vision of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Today, Americans across the country came out once again by the hundreds with a clear message for Republican Members of Congress: Do your job.

Instead of creating good-paying jobs and protecting our national security, Republicans spent the past week working to take away health care from millions of Americans, threatening national security by continuing to support an unconstitutional ban on Muslims and refugees, and emboldening Wall Street at the expense of the working class. Democrats and the public will continue to speak out against Republicans' anti-worker, Make America Sick Again agenda.

"The nationwide hold on the President's ban order is a victory for our values, our security and our Constitution.  No matter how many times the President attacks this judge, who was appointed by President George W. Bush, it won't change the fact that this ban is unconstitutional, immoral and dangerous.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced that the economy added a total of 227,000 jobs in January, while wages rose by 2.5 percent over the last year.  With 237,000 private sector jobs being added in January, the economy has added a total of 16 million private sector jobs since early 2010.

"January's wage and jobs numbers are an emphatic capstone on the extraordinary economic legacy of President Barack Obama.  President Obama inherited an economy in free fall, losing almost 600,000 jobs the month he took office alone.  After eight years of leadership for hard-working families, President Obama has handed his successor an economy that is growing wages and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Americans entrust the Supreme Court to serve as protectors of the hard-fought equalities and rights of every American through their commitment to uphold the Constitution of the United States.  Supreme Court Justices swear an oath to be impartial and to "administer justice without respect to persons, and to do equal right to the poor and to the rich."  Yet with the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill the vacancy of the Supreme Court, this Administration made clear their intent to enshrine their anti-women, anti-worker, and anti-environment agenda on the highest court of the land.  Judge Gorsuch's record shows he has stripped women of choice over their bodies, put profit over people, and served as a direct threat to water and air protections.

Advocacy groups across the country sounded the alarm on Judge Gorsuch.
