Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Biden Administration's Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel issued an opinion directing the Treasury Department to comply with the law and accede to Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richie Neal's request to release Donald Trump's tax returns to the Ways and Means Committee:
"Today, the Biden Administration has delivered a victory for the rule of law, as it respects the public interest by complying with Chairman Neal's request for Donald Trump's tax returns. As Speaker, on behalf of the House of Representatives, I applaud Chairman Neal for his dignified pursuit of the truth and the Biden Administration Department of Justice for its respect for the law.

Speaker Pelosi. Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for your inspiring opening statement. You've presented a vision and a plan on how we can address the disparity in our country when it comes to opportunity and growth. You really spoke in the spirit of Franklin Roosevelt when he spoke out about what the disparity meant to our democracy. As Congresswoman Moore and our distinguished Mr. Clyburn have told us, the New Deal was not a good deal for everyone in our country. We have to make sure as we go forward that we learn from the past and recognize all of the possibilities.

On Tuesday, four police officers testified about being beaten, tased, crushed, and racially abused by violent insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol to kill Vice President Pence and lawmakers. In the 48 hours since their testimony concluded, House Republicans have made clear that they don't give a damn about the hero officers who risked everything to defend the Capitol on January 6th.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Biden Administration DOL officially rescinded a Trump Administration rule that greatly limited the standard under which employers could be held accountable for violating federal labor law protections:
"Today, the Biden Administration has again reaffirmed this truth: that Democrats will always fight on the side of working Americans. This important step extends the critical lifeline of minimum wage and overtime protections to countless more workers, helping protect their rights, dignity and financial security.
"Congressional Democrats and the Biden Administration are committed to standing with workers. We will continue to fight for our pro-worker agenda, with equal pay for women, a long-overdue increase in the federal minimum wage, national paid family leave and more."
