This afternoon the House observed a moment of silence on the tragic shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas:

The shooting at Fort Hood is an unspeakable tragedy for the families, soldiers, civilians, and support staff on the base. Our brave men and women in uniform train day in and day out to preserve our security. They should never have to face the forces of violence here at home.The entire United States Congress stands with the members of our military every day. We offer our prayers and condolences to the victims of this horrible attack and to their families.

Last night, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its analysis of the House Republican bill. CBO's analysis on key issues:
COVERING MORE AMERICANS?
The House Republican bill covers just 3 million more Americans. Today, 83% of nonelderly Americans are insured -- under the GOP plan, only 83% of nonelderly Americans would be insured in 2019. No change.The Affordable Health Care for America Act extends coverage to 36 million more Americans. Today, 83% of nonelderly Americans are insured -- under the Democratic plan, 96% of nonelderly Americans will be insured in 2019.

American Cancer Society Joins Organizations In Support Of The Affordable Health Care for America Act

This morning, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) announced support for the Affordable Health Care for America Act saying:
The House bill takes a number of steps to improve health care for cancer patients and their families by refocusing the system to emphasize prevention, ending the practice of denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions, limiting the cost burden on families by providing care that covers more and costs less and emphasizing patients' quality of life.
They join the following groups representing millions of Americans in support of the House legislation to reduce health care costs, protect and increase consumers' choices, and guarantee access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans:

"“It's a smart choice for our nation's economy. Every dollar spent on unemployment benefits generates more than $1.60 in new economic demand. It's good for businesses, it's good for workers. This money, because it is so needed by these out of work families, will, again, be spent immediately, inject demand into the economy, creating jobs to the tune of $1.60 for every dollar."
