Alex Lange, a four-month-old infant living in Colorado, was denied health coverage by Rocky Mountain Health Plans because at 17 pounds, the insurance company decided he weighed too much. A medical director at the insurance company admitted: "If health care reform occurs, underwriting will go away. We do it because everybody else in the industry does it."After the media firestorm, the health insurance company relented and agreed to cover the child.
