Today in a letter to New York Federal Reserve Bank President Geithner, Chairman Henry Waxman of the Oversight Committee requested details of a potentially long-term arrangement between the Federal Reserve and BlackRock, an investment advisory firm selected to manage $30 billion in assets backed by federal taxpayers.

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and senior Democrats sent a letter to President Bush today urging him to change strategy in Iraq in order to repair the grave damage the war has caused to our nation's security. The letter asks President Bush to seek political reconciliation among Iraqi leaders; restore the readiness of our badly strained military; refocus on fighting Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan; and address other critical regional security challenges.

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after she and members of the bipartisan Congressional Delegation that met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government-in-Exile in India introduced House Resolution 1077. The Resolution, which calls on the Chinese government to end its crackdown in Tibet and to enter into a substantive dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, will be on the House floor next week.
