Speaker Nancy Pelosi was joined at her weekly news conference this morning by Congressmen Ike Skelton, Howard Berman and Rahm Emanuel. In advance of General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker coming to testify before Congress next week on the war in Iraq, the Democrats discussed the cost of the war to the U.S. economy, America's military readiness, and our standing in the world.

The House has just passed the Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act, H.R. 5501, by a vote of 308-116.

The Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations is currently holding a hearing, "Traumatic Brain Injury Related Vision Issues."
