Over the weekend, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin admitted the GOP proposal to repeal the Estate Tax would ‘disproportionately help rich people.'

Here's what that would look like:

CAP: For the Cost of Repealing the Estate Tax, Congress Could Buy Everyone in America a Pony:

"President Donald Trump and Republican leaders in Congress put together a wish list of tax cuts for the wealthy that are far more extravagant than ponies. It turns out for the cost of just one of these tax cuts—repealing the tax on wealthy estates—we could literally buy every single American a pony."

Or maybe a unicorn?

BREAKING NEWS: Pennsylvanians to pay 30 percent MORE for health insurance because of President Trump & GOP Congress.

PA Insurance Commissioner says after Trump's decision to end CSR payments, rates for individual and small group health insurance going up 30%:

"It is with great regret that I must announce approved rates that are substantially higher than what companies initially requested. This is not the situation I hoped we would be in, but due to President Trump's refusal to make cost-sharing reduction payments for 2018 and Congress's inaction to appropriate funds, it is the reality that state regulators must face and the reason rate increases will be higher than they should be across the country."

The American people have rejected Trumpcare again and again, but President Trump won’t be persuaded to strengthen the Affordable Care Act and ensure millions of Americans continue to have access to quality, affordable coverage.  With a quick flourish of his pen, President Trump is doubling down on his efforts to sabotage the ACA – singlehandedly hiking health premiums with his executive actions less than 3 weeks before open enrollment starts on November 1.

This morning, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos to discuss President Trump’s shameful decision to cut off Cost-Sharing Reduction payments, which would spike premiums by at least 20 percent for working families.  She called on the White House to follow the bipartisan efforts of Senators Patty Murray and Lamar Alexander to improve health care by strengthening the Affordable Care Act.

There is one undisputed fact we know about President Trump: he's all about the numbers, big numbers.  From TV ratings, the NFL's tax breaks, and even his IQ.

As he heads to Pennsylvania today, we wanted to remind President Trump of three numbers that show how his devastating agenda has endangered local families:

  • 764,800 – The number of Pennsylvanians who would lose their health care coverage under Trumpcare. And $5,837 is the average increase in costs of premiums for local residents under Trump's plan.

Over the weekend, the Trump Administration released a list of demands for Congress in exchange for an agreement to protect the lives of 800,000 innocent DREAMers – including support for the immoral border wall. These White House ‘principles' are cruel and unacceptable to the DREAMers, opposed by the overwhelming majority of Americans, and anathema to the values of our nation itself.

Advocacy groups across the country condemn the Trump Administration's anti-immigrant wishlist and call on Congress to swiftly pass the bipartisan DREAM Act.  Democrats remain committed to fighting for DREAMers and are turning up the heat on Congressional Republicans to give the American people a vote on the DREAM Act.

Since the unveiling of the Ryan-McConnell tax framework, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have touted the plan as a ‘middle class miracle':

"We want to give every middle income family in America a tax cut." – Speaker Paul Ryan

"We want to lower taxes at every level." – Rep. Kevin Brady, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee

However, by raising taxes on the middle class, repealing the estate tax (paid only by the top .2 percent) and adding trillions to the deficit, this ‘historic' tax plan is only a miracle for the rich – increasing the tax burden on working families by lifting the load off of the wealthiest ones.  But that's just another detail that Speaker Ryan and his fellow Republicans aren't touting.

This evening, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined Chris Cuomo for CNN's LivePelosi Town Hall in the wake of the horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas to discuss the immediate need for commonsense gun reform legislation.  She echoed House Democrats' calls to pass the bipartisan King-Thompson legislation to strengthen life-saving background checks and to form a bipartisan Select Committee on Gun Violence.

Leader Pelosi also discussed Republicans' billionaires-first budget plan which would pave the way for massive tax cuts for the wealthy few on the backs of working Americans, as well as Democrats' commitment to passing the DREAM Act now.

Memorable moments are below.

President Trump and Republicans would have you believe that the ‘biggest winners will be the everyday American workers’ in their tax ‘reform’ plan, even though they refuse to guarantee that their plan won’t raise taxes on hard-working families.  In reality, the Ryan-McConnell tax framework cuts taxes for the wealthiest, raises taxes on middle class families and adds trillions of dollars to the deficit.
