Trumpcare – pulled from the House Floor by Speaker Paul Ryan on March 24 – already meant higher health costs, more than 24 million Americans losing their health coverage, gutting key protections, a crushing Age Tax, and stealing from Medicare.

This afternoon, Speaker Ryan tweeted ‘VERIFIED: MacArthur Amendment strengthens AHCA, protects people with pre-existing conditions.'

But he's not fooling anyone with this lie.  Fact: the MacArthur Amendment guts the protections for people with pre-existing conditions and would charge sick people more for less coverage.

Don't take it from us… here are reporters, outside groups, experts, and Members of Congress responding to the Speaker's tweet:

Can someone please tell us what’s going on in the White House and in President Trump’s head? It’s only Tuesday and Trump’s nonsensical rants, inconsistency, and erratic behavior have once again sent shockwaves here at home and abroad with unforeseen consequences for our national security, standing in the world, and even the stature of the presidency.

In this up-is-down, down-is-up White House, we aren’t quite sure when to place weight on President Trump’s often contradictory words, but this statement about the latest version of Trumpcare that House Republicans are pushing is right on the nose:

This morning on CBS's Face the Nation, President Trump told host John Dickerson that the latest version of Trumpcare would protect Americans with pre-existing conditions, despite all of the facts to the contrary.

TRUMP: "Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I mandate it. I said, 'has to be.'"

DICKERSON: "In one of the fixes, it was discussed pre-existing was optional for the states..."

TRUMP: "Sure, in one of the fixes, and they're changing it."

After the Republicans' failed attempt to pass the Trumpcare dumpster fire – a plan which sought to kick 24 million Americans off of their health insurance and increase costs for millions – House Republicans have managed to make their disaster even worse.

This morning, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined Jonathan Karl on ABC’s This Week to discuss the broken promises during President Trump’s first 100 days in office. Pelosi highlighted the President's failure to propose any legislation to boost growth in jobs, infrastructure, and the economy, despite Democrats’ willingness to work across the aisle to create jobs for hardworking Americans.

Today is President Trump's 100th day in office.  After making a plethora of promises on the campaign trail and during the transition period, he has not made a single legislative accomplishment to help hard-working American families.  Instead, he and his Administration have broken one promise after another and achieved almost nothing.
