San Salvador – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement concluding the Congressional delegation's meetings in El Salvador:
"It was a privilege to return to El Salvador, joined by our distinguished Congressional delegation, for a day of meaningful engagements. Following a country team briefing at the US Embassy San Salvador, we visited the USAID- supported Victims' Assistance Center at the Isidro Menendez Judicial Complex. There, we heard about the Supreme Court's efforts to support victims of gender-based violence. Members applauded the center's work and reiterated the importance of protecting victims throughout the legal process, and ensuring that they are not re-victimized. This initiative is one of the many critical US-funded programs that must be strengthened rather than eliminated.
