Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I thank the gentleman for yielding. I thank him, Mr. [Keith] Ellison, and our Ranking Member, Congresswoman Waters, for their great leadership on behalf of American consumers, American investors and American taxpayers. I rise in opposition to the Amendment and to the Bill.

Director Comey’s resolute testimony detailed the frightening reality of President Trump’s contempt for justice. President Trump’s concerted and inexcusable effort to shut down the FBI’s investigation of his cronies’ ties to Russia disgraces the Office of the President.

Every day, Americans learn more about President Trump’s brazen attempts to interfere with the investigations into his potential collusion with Russia. From reports that the President asked his top intelligence officials to curtail the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe to his firing of Director James Comey, Trump is making it clear that he will stop at nothing to prevent the FBI – and Americans – from following the facts on his Moscow connection.

Anthem’s decision to pull out of the Ohio Marketplace is yet another example of the devastation wreaked on American families by the Trump Administration’s efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act. The Republicans’ irresponsible actions have already resulted in North Carolinians in the Marketplace facing double-digit premium increases – and now, 10,500 Americans in 20 counties in Ohio could be left without any insurance options next year. Republicans must stop working to collapse the health care system and inflict suffering on hard-working families, and instead begin to work with Democrats on improving our health care system and lowering health care costs.
