President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ contempt for clean air, clean water, and our clean energy future endangers the health of our children and the strength of our economy. The Administration’s spiteful assault on the Clean Power Plan will not bring back jobs to coal country, it will only poison our air and undermine America’s ability to win the good-paying jobs of the future.

Dear Democratic Colleague,

Congratulations and thank you for your leadership in last week's victory for the American people: protecting the Affordable Care Act and defeating Republicans' monstrosity of a bill.

I am deeply grateful to the Caucus for heeding the all-hands-on-deck call to action.  Our inside maneuvering was amplified in a very strong way by outside mobilization.  The town halls, roundtables and events you held around the nation galvanized the opposition to repealing the ACA and stirred the American people to action – including many who had never been involved before.  It was a remarkable achievement.

Social media made a big difference in our success.  Our unity made a big difference to social media.  Now, strengthened by our unity, we must finalize our next steps.

Today, President Trump has proved yet again that he will choose his wealthy corporate friends over hard-working American families each and every time. Under President Trump, working families are first to have their rights to affordable health care targeted; first to have their safety protections cut; and first to see their access to fair wages and civil rights laws besieged.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement after the President signed several resolutions, passed by Congressional Republicans, including two measures to weaken implementation of the overwhelmingly bipartisan Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and diminishes the Higher Education Act's teacher preparation programs.

"Today, President Trump showed he is not interested in ensuring world-class education for all America's children.  By signing these resolutions, he is actively jeopardizing the successful implementation of the overwhelmingly bipartisan Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), while also turning his back on our teachers and school leaders.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Adam Schiff, Ranking Member on the House Intelligence Committee, delivered the Weekly Democratic Address.  Video and audio of the Weekly Democratic Address can be downloaded here.

Below is a full transcript of the address:

"Last summer, a foreign power intervened in our presidential election in an effort to influence the outcome on behalf of one of the candidates.

"That power was Russia, and the candidate was Donald J. Trump, now President of the United States.  This is not a story made up to discredit Mr. Trump, but the consensus conclusion of the entire U.S. intelligence community.

"More ominously, the intelligence community has concluded Vladimir Putin ordered this meddling and will do it again.

“Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman. Tomorrow, March 25th marks the 51st Anniversary of when Dr. Martin Luther King said, ‘Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and the most inhuman because it often results in physical death.’ 51 years ago tomorrow. So, today is really a values debate as we go into it about a sense of community, who we are as a nation.
