“A week after the worst mass shooting in American history, House Republicans continue to put the NRA ahead of their responsibility to keep the American people safe."

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that she has named Caroline Behringer as her new Deputy Communications Director.

“Republicans in Congress have decided that their radicalism, recklessness and obstruction are more important than protecting Americans from gun violence. The overwhelming majority of Americans want Congress to take commonsense action to keep guns out of the wrong hands – but Republicans have decided to continue to enable suspected terrorists and criminals to buy all the deadly weapons they want."

“Today marks one year since nine parishioners at one of our nation’s oldest black congregations were gunned down at their bible study. And as we remember this somber anniversary this week, our grief is layered on yet another horrifying act of hate and terror – the brutal attack on the LGBT community in Orlando. No American should be targeted for who they are, how they worship, or who they love."

It's such a very sad time. Early in the morning on Sunday, we lost all of these people who we will carry in our hearts. So young, so young, representing the beautiful diversity of our country, and targeted. Victims of [a] hate crime. No question about that. Again, we stand with Orlando.

The latest plank of House Republicans’ Wrong Way agenda is nothing more than a hollow effort to shift attention away from Republicans’ spectacular and corrosive obstruction.

The American people want action to keep them safe. But today, Republicans voted again to block the ‘No Fly, No Buy’ bill – allowing suspected terrorists to continue buying deadly firearms right here in America.
