Speaker Pelosi:
In times like these, the quick action taken by government officials and local residents to minimize the loss of life is critical. Neighbors rely upon neighbors, families open their homes to those in need, and good Samaritans come to the aid of many.
We will do everything in our power to ensure that the federal government fully mobilizes its emergency response resources and comes to the immediate aid of residents in the affected areas. We will work with all levels of governments to assess any damage and the House of Representatives stands ready to act on making available the resources that are needed to all those who suffer from the cruel blow of Hurricane Ike.

Dear Leader Boehner:
It is with great curiosity and concern that I read your letter of September 9, 2008.
It is cause for concern that you and your colleagues in the Republican House Leadership are in denial about the failure of the Bush-Republican Congress to grow the American economy. The record is quite clear that, with your complicity, the George W. Bush Administration now shares with the Administration of George H.W. Bush the worst record on job creation since Herbert Hoover in the 1930s.
