Chairman Miller Responds to Bush Administration on No Child Left Behind

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA) issued the following response to remarks made today by U.S. Education Secretary Margaret Spellings on the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind. Miller, the chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, has been leading efforts in the House to significantly improve No Child Left Behind.

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement following the release of Energy Information Administration data this week indicating gas prices are expected to average more than $3 a gallon through 2009 and peak near $3.50 this spring. EIA also released forecasts on home heating oil, which is expected to increase 37.6 percent over last winter.

Washington, DC-- Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today in response to the President's remarks this afternoon:

"Like the American people, Democrats know that we urgently need a change of course in Iraq as political progress -- the primary goal of the surge -- remains out of reach. It is a failure of leadership when our President calls 2007 'incredibly successful beyond anybody's expectations' when the Iraqi government has done so little to achieve stability and it has been the most lethal year yet for American troops.
