Speaker Pelosi. Good afternoon.
Thank you for being accommodating. We had important legislation on the Floor, and so thank you.
We have an – it's an interesting week, right? But today I just want to talk about two important things, both begin with a ‘c': the coronavirus and the Census.
Earlier this morning, some of us were together right in this very spot, talking about the Census and how it's starting now and we want everyone to participate. We want everybody in America to help define the size and the character of the quality and quantity, not only that, the beautiful diversity of America. And we want to help to avoid some of the attempts that are coming to undermine an accurate count.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined Members of the Congressional Tri-Caucus and other Members of Congress for a press conference on the 2020 Census andthe impact of the historical undercount of communities of color in the decennial Census. Below are the Speaker's remarks:
Speaker Pelosi. Thank you. Thank you for allowing me to fill in here at this point because of what we have going the rest of the day.
But I'm honored to be with all the people who are here. They've been champions on who we are as Americans. In addition, Carolyn Maloney, who I'm sure will probably be joining you, has been for ten years talking about the Census working with Mr. Kilmer in the Appropriations Committee.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi hosted the Bipartisan Women's Caucus and other Members of Congress for her annual Women's History Month reception, which honored labor and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta. Below are the Speaker's remarks:
Speaker Pelosi. Good afternoon, everyone. Good afternoon. Thank you to our musicians. Thank you all for being here this afternoon.
It is the beginning of Women's History Month. What better way to launch it than to honor Dolores Huerta? I see her right there.

It's a personal privilege for me as well as an official one as Speaker, but personal because Dolores and I have been friends since the seventies. I know some of you weren't even born yet, but we were good friends even then.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined Members of Congress and national education leaders for a press event adding H.R. 865, the Rebuild America's Schools Act, to House Democrats' Moving Forward infrastructure framework. The bill makes a $100 billion investment to help repair and improve the physical and digital infrastructure of public schools across the nation. Below are the Speaker's remarks:
