Leader Pelosi underscored the Republican health care bill's cruelty: older Americans will be exposed to skyrocketing costs while millions more will lose their coverage. Leader Pelosi also slammed the President for, once again, deflecting attention away from major issues of importance to the American people.
"Just when you've seen it all, the Republicans go to a more extreme place. This will make millions of people -- it's a question of 10, 15, 20 million people off of having health insurance. It will be the biggest transfer of wealth from low-middle income people to wealthy people in our country," the California Democrat said in an interview on "CBS This Morning."
The measure would still include coverage for preexisting conditions and allow children to stay on their parents' plans until age 26. Pelosi said that in order to cover preexisting conditions, you have to have a pool of people.
"The Trump Administration's repackaging has done nothing to change the immoral, unconstitutional and dangerous goals of their Muslim and refugee ban. This is the same ban, with the same purpose, driven by the same dangerous discrimination that weakens our ability to fight terror.
"The President's conduct over the weekend emphasizes how little regard he has for reality. As the leaked reports from Homeland Security exposed, the White House has desperately sought to invent an after-the-fact justification for its baldly prejudiced and unconstitutional Muslim and refugee ban. Protecting the American people requires us to be strong and smart, not reckless and rash.
In her interview, Leader Pelosi emboldened her call for Attorney General Jeff Sessions' resignation after it was revealed that he lied under oath to the American public about his conversations with Russians. She also urged Republican leaders to join the bipartisan effort, supported by 100 percent of the House Democratic Caucus, to form an independent, outside commission to investigate and unearth the financial, personal and political grip the Russians have on President Trump and his Administration.

What is the message that that sends to the country, to the lawyers in the State Department, to the American Bar Association, which has standards of professional conduct, to the State of Alabama, which has standards for professional conduct for its attorneys?
