I want to talk about our domestic issues, but first, of course, overwhelming everybody right now is watching this – the horror unwinding in Ukraine, the valor of these courageous people.

Julio Vaqueiro. From Washington, D.C., where this afternoon we spoke with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. We talked about the State of the Union, President Biden, and of course, the overarching theme: the war in Ukraine and the role of the United States in this conflict.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered remarks on the Floor of the House of Representatives on the passing of Dr. Paul Farmer, the founder of Partners In Health and a pioneer of global health. Below are the Speaker's remarks:

Speaker Pelosi. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to pay tribute to a brilliant doctor and pioneer of global health, Dr. Paul Farmer, who sadly passed away last week.

Dr. Farmer dedicated his entire life to improving the lives of others. As Co-Founder of Partners In Health, alongside Dr. Jim Yong Kim and Ophelia Dahl, he forever altered our understanding of the fight against global poverty and how to care for those in need.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement in recognition of Women's History Month:

"During Women's History Month, Americans reflect on the generations of women whose courage, relentlessness and patriotism have helped write our nation's story. At every stage of our history, the ambitions and voices of women have weathered extraordinary adversity to fight for our rights and move America closer to realizing its greatest ideals. Today, Americans stand on the shoulders of trailblazing pioneers and everyday heroes alike, and we honor their legacy by reaffirming a simple truth: when women succeed, America succeeds.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after the House passed the Emmett Till Antilynching Act, also passed by Democrats in the 116th Congress:

"Today, the House took an important step to advance the cause of justice by finally designating lynching as a hate crime under federal law. In again passing the Emmett Till Antilynching Act – which was made possible by generations of brave activists, including civil rights hero Congressman Bobby Rush – we are confronting the reality of racist violence and helping to build a safer future for all of our children.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked passage of the House-passed Women's Health Protection Act:

"By passing the Women's Health Protection Act in September, the Democratic House took bold action to defend health freedom for every person and enshrine into law the essential protections of Roe v. Wade. Today, Senate Republicans shamefully voted to block this vital legislation, which is an urgent moral imperative to ensure that Constitutional rights are not limited by income, background or zip code.
