Today, I write to you with pride and appreciation for the House Democrats' overwhelming support of the America COMPETES Act of 2022. This critical legislation will bolster American independence and self-sufficiency in manufacturing and innovation, while positioning American interests and values to win the 21st Century. This legislation is also needed to contain inflation, and it will do so by committing $45 billion to address the supply chain challenge, which is raising costs for America's working families.

Speaker Pelosi. Thank you, Madam Speaker. Thank you for the recognition. And I want to salute the leadership of Congresswoman – Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney and Ranking Member James Comer. Thank you both for bringing this important legislation – your determined leadership to have a bipartisan bill, which is really important. And doing so, again, in bipartisanship would make our Founders proud.
Washington, D.C. — Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after the House passed the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act:
"Today, the House took a key step toward ending the shameful practice of forced arbitration of sexual assault and harassment in the workplace. This landmark legislation will void agreements currently silencing more than 60 million workers as well as countless more consumers, who have been denied the freedom to pursue recourse for sexual assault and harassment by nursing home contracts, property leases and other legal agreements.

Speaker Pelosi. Good morning, everyone. And, it is a very good morning. Not only because of the wonderful legislation, the masterful legislation, that is on the Floor as we speak here and that we will vote on in another hour or so – but, we also celebrate 467,000 jobs created last month.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on the January jobs report, which showed that the U.S. created 467,000 jobs last month:
"Today's jobs report makes resoundingly clear that, with nearly half a million new jobs created last month, the Biden economic recovery continues to be historic. Despite continued challenges from the pandemic, our nation has seen the fastest job growth on record with 6.6 million new jobs created in the last year – powered by President Biden's visionary leadership and Democrats' effective economic plan.

Clyburn, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Chairwoman Joyce Beatty, Congressman Tom Rice and the family of Former Representative Joseph H. Rainey to unveil "The Joseph H. Rainey Room" in the U.S. Capitol. In December 2020, the 116th Congress unanimously passed H.R. 1253, designating Room H-150 of the U.S. Capitol as "The Joseph H. Rainey Room" to commemorate 150 years since Representative Joseph H. Rainey, our nation's first African American Congressman, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
