Speaker Pelosi. Thank you very much, Martin. What an honor it is, personally and officially, to be here with the family of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King. To hear Yolanda speak about the future and what this all means to young people – how proud her grandparents are. And, to hear Arndrea talk about what is at stake in all of this – couldn't be more clear. Martin, thank you for the challenge that you have put forth.
Dear Democratic Colleague,
Thanks to the great strength and unity of our Caucus, this week the House passed the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act and sent it to the Senate for urgent consideration. We cannot and we will not rest until this legislation is enacted into law.
As President Biden forcefully declared this week in Georgia, we must find a path forward to defend our democracy. Next week, after our nation commemorates voting rights hero Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Senate must do its part to advance this legislation. Nothing less than our democracy is at stake.
San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after the Biden-Harris Administration announced that California bridges will receive nearly $850 million in new funding this fiscal year, part of $4.2 billion in federal funding for the Golden State over the next five years from formula funding for bridges under in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:
"This new funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to make bridges throughout the Golden State safer and stronger is further proof that Democrats Deliver!

"It is good news that the Supreme Court has upheld the President's life-saving action to protect our health care heroes and their patients. However, it is alarming that, in the midst of a deadly pandemic, the Court has chosen to ignore the science and the law by preventing the Administration from keeping Americans safe in the workplace.
