Today is one year since the inauguration of President Joe Biden. It was a cause for celebration then and a cause for appreciation now. As we all know, much more needs to be done, but we have made great progress in this year.

Washington, D.C. – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer issued the following statement marking the end of President Joe Biden's first year in office:
"When President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn in one year ago, our nation faced a dark and difficult moment from pandemic and economic crises. One year later, we proudly mark one of the most impactful first years of a presidency in modern times: getting shots into millions of arms, putting money in pockets and delivering the best year of job creation in American history.

"On Monday, our nation celebrated the birthday of civil rights hero Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for his courage, leadership and sacrifice for our democracy. Today, Senate Republicans have dishonored his leadership and legacy by blocking passage of urgently needed legislation to protect voting rights and our democracy. In doing so, they voted to silence the voices of their constituents, to allow for the nullification of elections, to greenlight partisan gerrymandering, to suppress the grassroots and to embrace the influence of dark money in our politics.
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to reject former President Trump's attempt to claim executive privilege to block the House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol from accessing his White House records:
"Today's Supreme Court ruling is a victory for the truth, for the rule of law and for the American people. As the Courts have again and again affirmed, no one is above the law – not even a former president, who incited the January 6th insurrection.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the San Francisco Waterfront project will receive $5 million in new Army Corps funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to complete the ongoing Corps study investigating how to strengthen Embarcadero Seawall to withstand earthquakes and rising sea levels. California will receive $170 million in total from this tranche of funding from the infrastructure package.
