Today, America and the world observe a milestone of extraordinary solemnity: the end of the twenty-year war in Afghanistan. I commend President Biden for his strong, steadfast leadership in ending a forever war. As the President stated today, too many men and women in uniform and their families have had to bear the burden of this conflict. We grateful to all who have served our country during this time.

Last night, in a ruling that is arbitrary and cruel, the Supreme Court ripped away the relief provided by President Biden and Congressional Democrats protecting families from the horror of eviction. The Court’s decision to block the new CDC eviction moratorium is immoral, putting families at risk of being put on the streets, and it is a serious public health threat, as the delta variant continues.
