Appearing on Fox News' Special Report With Bret Baier last night, Speaker-in-waiting Kevin McCarthy attempted to backtrack on his disturbing admission about the Benghazi Committee, painfully noting it was never his plan to confess imply it was "political":

Rep. McCarthy to Bret Baier.   I did not intend to imply in any way that that work is political...it was never my intention to say that.
