The Hill: Pelosi blasts GOP for budget delays

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday slammed congressional Republicans for failing to produce a budget resolution.

"Almost five months into the Trump Administration, House Republicans still haven't met their most basic responsibility to pass a budget," Pelosi said.

"The House GOP is now months behind the statutory budget deadline, deeply divided but unwilling to abandon their budget giveaways to the richest few."

The House Budget Committee is aiming to release a budget resolution before the Fourth of July recess, but Republicans remain divided on a number of fronts.

Few have the stomach for the deep cuts to nondefense discretionary spending President Trump proposed, but other options for funding large increases to military spending are politically difficult.

Where are President Trump’s Tax Returns?

As Speaker Ryan moves to the question and answer portion of his ‘major' tax reform speech, we have some questions: Where are President Trump's tax returns?  What happened to ‘At some point I'll release it'?

By blatantly refusing to reveal his tax returns, the President fails to fulfill his promise to the American people, honor tradition, and be transparent about his financial history – despite the fact that 74 percent of Americans want Presidents to disclose their tax returns.  House Republicans have voted 9 times to keep President Trump's tax returns secret.

Speaker Ryan's 'Major' Tax Reform Speech: Just More House GOP Inaction

Speaker Ryan in his big tax reform speech: "Transformational tax reform can be done, and we are moving forward.  Full speed ahead."

President Trump in the WH Rose Garden: "Our tax bill is moving along in Congress, and I believe it's doing very well … I think a lot of people will be very pleasantly surprised."

Surprised, indeed.  Just so we're clear: there is no tax reform bill.  With no imminent plan or a scheduled vote on tax reform, it's hard to believe Ryan's ‘major' speech is anything more than a poor attempt to distract from the fact that 5 months into the Trump Administration, Republicans still have not put forward a single piece of legislation to create good-paying jobs or raise the wages of hard-working Americans.

In 'Major' Tax Speech, Speaker Ryan Offers Minor Platitudes for Hard-working Americans

Almost exactly a year to the day after Speaker Ryan's last ‘major' speech on tax reform that lacked details or any specifics, the Speaker is going for a repeat performance. In his remarks today, Speaker Ryan will offer few details:

"According to his office, Mr. Ryan will not go into great detail about where he stands on the various tax proposals that have been dividing Republicans for months, but he will provide a broad outline of his thinking."
